V. cyprinoides var. cochinensis accumulates copper (II) from the surrounding medium; concentrations up to 0.5 ppm are sublethal. LC50 for a 240 hr period is 2 ppm. In presence of EDTA, the copper(II) loses its toxicity owing to chelation. The rate of uptake of copper(II) is also studied. |
