Data on sea surface temperature, air temperature and salinity of coastal water along the Visakhapatnam coast have been collected at 2 stations differently exposed to the open ocean. Diurnal and seasonal variations of the above parameters are explained in relation to the boundary condition and fresh water discharge by Meghadri river into the backwater in which the harbour is situated. The results are compared with earlier studies in coastal waters as well as at an offshore station. |
