Growth rate of Donax incarnatus was determined for 1 yr in relation to ecological factors and meristic characters. Average monthly growth rate was 2.2 mm. Growth of newly settled animals was faster than the older populations. Growth was influenced by the availability of particulate organic carbon and chlorophyll a in the surf water. From the multiregressional analysis it was observed that 2 variables of meristic characters gave better estimates of growth than a single variable. |
