Wave refraction has been studied for the west coast of India from Vengurla to Dwarka in order to understand the nature of sediment transport along this region. The study reveals many special features of sediment transport tendency and also places of possible occurrence of convergence and divergence of wave induced longshore currents along this coast. Role of these longshore currents on the sediment transport tendency in several bays and the probable places where rip currents can be expected along this coast are discussed. |
