Total zooplankton biomass and the constituent species under the major taxa in relation to hydrographical conditions in the Mandovi-Zuari estuarine complex during June to September 1972 were studied. Zuari estuary had greater marine influence and higher zooplankton biomass as compared to Mandovi estuary. The fauna composition was very diverse and also the total number of species present was more in the former. Copepoda, Decapoda, Ctenophora, Sergestidae, fish eggs and larvae constituted the bulk of the collections. Copepoda was the major component in all the samples, built during the entire monsoon period, dominance of no single group was evident. |
