Description 288-294
There are altogether 11 stages (5 naupliar and 6 copepodid) in the life cycles Labidocera pavo and Labidocera minuta, the 1st naupliar stage being suppressed. Nauplii of these 2 species resemble each other in their general shape but differ in size, mouth parts and caudal armature. They can be differentiated from other calanoid nauplii by the presence of characteristic hood at the anterior end of the body and by long antennule which is mostly directed anteriorwards both in living and preserved specimens. Segmentation of body and swimming legs of copepodid stages of the present species follow general pattern of calanoid development. Copepodid stages of both the species can be separated on the basis of size, presence of lateral cephalic hooks in Labidocera minuta and by differences in the number of spines and setae on their paired legs.
