Distribution of nutrients in the Vembanad Lake was studied during 1973 at 25 stations. Depth profiles of inorganic phosphate-phosphorus, nitrite-nitrogen and nitrite-nitrogen showed marked seasonal changes influenced by local precipitation and land run off. Changes in the adjoining coastal water of the Arabian Sea showed profound influence on the distribution of salinity. |
