Certain hydrobiological observations are made during September 1970 and May 1971 in inshore waters along Panaji-Bombay coast at 10 stations. The hydrographical features show double seasonal oscillations. Low temperature, low oxygen and high salinity of surface waters during November-December indicate the effect of possible upwelling on this coast which can be regarded as the zone of transition between the two upwelling areas of north and south. The zooplankton biomass exhibits two peaks - one immediately before and the other soon after the south-west monsoon - the later being secondary in nature. The zooplankton production seems to be associated with high temperature and oxygen and it shows a succession in space and time from southern to northern stations, which is clearly indicated by presence and movement of Cladocerans. The seasonal biomass and the list of dominant planktonic organism at different places in various months have been given. Trichodesmium bloom, associated with high temperature, is observed in March-April. Diatom peak is observed in April-May, but there is no definite correlation between diatoms and zooplankton.
