Density distribution pattern of M. strigatus among 13 physiognomically different local littoral algae is given. The morphology of the weed, its tidal level and the amount of protection offered against wave action and insolation appear to be the chief factors governing the distribution and abundance of M. strigatus. The worldwide distribution of the species and its range as recorded so far is also given. |
