Sediment samples at a depth range of 27-212 m from shelf region off Cochin coast yielded about 24 species of planktonic Foraminifera. In the innershelf region the fauna was very sporadic whereas in the outer shelf it was rich; species belonging to the genera Globigerina and Globigerinoides formed the bulk of the fauna. The fauna in the outershelf region was found to be a mixture of recent and relict fauna. |
