The International Indian Ocean Expedition collections of crangonid larvae include 7 series of the larval forms, which are identified to the genera only: Pontocaris (1 series), Philocheras (3 series), Pontophilus (2 series). One larvae belongs to an unknown fourth genus. Some of these series are incomplete, but all the series have larval development without any abbreviation. Most of the series of larvae recorded are characterized by certain unusual morphological features up to now unknown in crangonid larvae. |
