A method has been devised to determine the agaroid content of seaweed from the Maldives, tentatively indentified as Fauchea sp. The method involves bleaching and drying of seaweed prior to extraction. The extract obtained is a viscous solution, with a yield of 15 to 17% on dry weight basis. |
