Data were collected on the hydrographical and biological parameters in the nearshore waters of the Tarapur Atomic Power Plant to study the standing crop of zooplankton of the water and the effect of effluent if any. Variations in the temperature and dissolved oxygen content in the intake and discharge canal regions were very insignificant. Zooplankton peaks were observed in December and March, dominated by siphonophores, copepods and decapod larvae. No appreciable difference was noticed between the faunistic composition of the intake and discharge water. |
