<span style=""font-size: 11.0pt;" lang=""EN-GB"">Isothiocyanates, the degradation products of glucosinolates reported specifically in the members of Brassicaceae family are <span style=""mso-bidi-font-weight: bold";">potential alternative compounds to currently <span style=""mso-bidi-font-weight: bold";">used fumigants. In the present study, <span style=""font-size: 11.0pt;" lang=""EN-US"">six <em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";">Brassica</em> species,<em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";"><span style=""font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: ";" lang=""EN-US""> </span></em><span style=""font-size: 11.0pt;" lang=""EN-GB"">viz. <em><span style=""font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: ";" lang=""EN-GB"">Brassica alba </span></em><span style=""font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: ";" lang=""EN-GB"">(L.) Rabenh, <em>B. nigra </em>(L.) W. D. J. Koch<em> </em>(cv. ‘Banarasi rai’)<em>, B. napus </em>L. (cv. ‘PPNS-1’<em>), B. rapa </em>L. (cv. ‘RESBR-240’), <em>B. juncea </em>(L.) Czern.<em> </em>(cv. ‘Kranti’) and <em>B. carinata </em>A. Braun<em> </em>(cv. ‘Kiran’) were evaluated for Sinigrin (one of the most important glucosinolates found in <em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";">Brassica</em>) content using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Sinigrin concentration in different <em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";">Brassica</em> species ranged between 3.65 μM/g in <em>B. napus </em>L. to 16.42 μM/g in <em>B. <span style=""mso-bidi-font-style: italic";">juncea </span></em>(L.) Czern.<em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";"> </em>(cv. ‘Kranti’). Therefore, <em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";">B. <span style=""mso-bidi-font-style: italic";">juncea </span></em>(L.) Czern.<em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";"> </em>(cv. ‘Kranti’) was found as the most appropriate <em style=""mso-bidi-font-style: normal";">Brassica </em>species to be used as biofumigant followed by <em><span lang=""EN-US"">B. <span style=""font-size: 11.0pt;" lang=""EN-GB"">nigra </span></span></em><span lang=""EN-GB"">(L.) W. D. J.
