Description |
The emu breeding birds maintained at TANUVAS R.R.C, Pudukkottai were used in this study to record laying of eggs from 4 and 5 years of age in 2 successive i.e., first and second laying seasons and analyzed for egg laying intervals in days. The study revealed that in 4 years old birds, 54.08 and 30.61% of eggs were laid with 3 and 4 days interval. About 6.12% of eggs were laid in 5 days intervals. The mean ELI recorded pen wise were 3.68, 3.45 and 3.68 with a mean average of 3.66. In 5 years old birds 32.30 and 40% of eggs were laid with 3 and 4 days intervals. About 7.69% and 6.15% of eggs were laid with intervals of 5 and 6 days. The mean ELI recorded pen wise were 6.04, 5.88, 4.44 with an average value of 5.45±33. In this study both in first and second laying seasons, i.e., 4 and 5 years old birds, the ELI recorded were 3 and 4 days.
