The experiment was laid out in Split plot design with three replications under agri-horti system (fruit based agroforestry system) viz. guava based agri-horti system. The experiment included five combination of recommended foliar spray of bio-regulators (Water spray, 1000 ppm thiourea, 500 ppm thiourea, 100 ppm salicylic acid, 50 ppm salicylic acid). Urea, Die ammonium phosphate (DAP) and muriate of potash (MOP) were used as sources of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The requisite quantity of seed at the rate of 25-30 kg/ha for clusterbean (variety RGC-936) was sown. The seed were sown with help of kudal directly in rows 30 x 15 cm apart leaving 1.5 meter space each side from tree rows. The experiment was carried out with seven years old guava trees planted at 7 x 7 meter spacing. Various observations were recorded during the course of investigation including various growth components, viz., plant height, and dry weight of nodules/plant, chlorophyll contain, dry matter accumulation/plant, CGR, and leaf area index, number of branches, yield components viz., number of cluster/plant, number of pods/plant, length/pod, number of seeds/pod, 1000-seeds weight, biological yield, seed and straw yields, and uptake of the nutrient (N, P2O5 and K2O) and protein content and gum content in seed. Soil was analyzed for organic carbon, available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at initiation and after the harvest of the clusterbean. The data collected during the course of experimentation were subjected to statistical analysis to draw valid conclusion. Finally the different treatments were analyzed for their gross return, net return and benefit: cost ratio. One year study on clusterbean under guava (Psidium guajava L.) based agri-horti system in vindhyan region, it may be concluded that: Normal sowing was performed better with foliar spray of 500 ppm thiourea than all other treatments. Application of foliar spray of 500 ppm thiourea and 100 ppm salicylic acid similarly improved crop growth parameters, yield attributes, yields, nutrient content, uptake and quality of seed in terms of protein and gum content. Normal sowing and foliar spray of thiourea 500 ppm found best treatments in terms of net return and B: C ratio. However, these results are only indicative and require further experimentation to arrive at more consistent and final conclusion to be passed on the farmers. |
