Description The present investigation was conducted during the year 2015-16 at the research cum instructional farm Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur. Positive significant and correlation for fruit yield found with fruit length, fruit girth, number of seeds per fruit, number of fruits per plant and 100 seed
weight at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.
Path analysis revealed that number of branches per plant, fruit girth, days to
first male and female flower appears, duration of crop, node number of first male
flower and days to first fruit harvest had significant positive direct on fruit yield
The divergence analysis revealed the presence of appreciable amount of
genetic diversity in the tested genotype sixty genotypes were grouped into five
clusters. The intra and inter cluster distance were computed for all the clusters.
The result indicated that the genotypes belongs the cluster III viz. IAG-10 and
IAG 60 may be utilized as parents for hybridization in future breeding
programmes.
Inter crossing of genotypes from diversed clusters showing superior mean
performance may help in obtaining higher fruit yield per plant with growth and
fruit characters of lead components in ash gourd for Chhattisgarh plains.
