Description |
A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2013 at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Regional Research Station, Karnal, India to study the different combination of herbicides in direct seeded basmati rice with twenty treatments (T1 : pendimethalin 1000 g ha -1 , T2 : bispyribac-Na 25 g ha -1 , T3: bispyribac 25 g ha -1 + pyrazosulfuron 25 g ha -1 , T4 : bispyribac 25 g ha -1 + azimsulfuron 20 g ha -1 , T5-T7 : bispyribac 25 g ha -1 + ethoxysulfuron 18.8, 28.0, 37.5 g ha -1 , T8 : bispyribac 25 g ha -1 + fenosxarop (with safener) 60 g ha -1 , T9: penoxsulam + cyhalofop (ready-mix) 150 g ha -1 , T10: T1 fb T2, T11: T1 fb T3, T12: T1 fb T4, T13-T15: T1 fb T5-T7, T16: T1 fb T8, T17: T1 fb azimsulfuron 20 g ha -1 fb T8, T18: T10 fb one hand weeding, along with weed free and weed checks) laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The experimental field was predominantly infested with Echinochloa crus-galli, Eragrostis, tenella, Dactyloctenium, aegyptium, Ammannia baccifera and Cyperus rotundus. Pendimethalin 1000 g ha -1 (PRE) fb tank-mix combination of bispyribac-sodium 25 g ha -1 with pyrazosulfuron 25 g ha -1 or azimsulfuron 20 g ha -1 or ethoxysulfuron 18.0-37.5 g ha -1 (WCE at 60 DAS: 93.3-95.6%) were realized to be the best herbicidal combinations for control of complex weed flora in direct seeded rice, with significant improvement in number of effective tillers (71.3-73.3/m.r.l.), number of grains/ panicle (82.0-84.3), grain yield (4013-4103 kg ha -1 ), straw yield (5734-5823 kg ha -1 ), weed index (6.0-8.1%), net returns (Rs 1,08,856-1,13,485 ha -1 ) and B-C ratio (2.45-2.53) as compared to weedy check (35.0/m.r.l., 72.7, 1552 kg ha -1 , 2641 kg ha -1 , 64.4%, Rs 1,590 ha -1 , 1.02, respectively). Bispyribac was most effective against grassy weed E. crus-galli, pendimethalin against aerobic grassy weeds, and pyrazosulfuron, azimslfuron and ethoxysulfuron against broadleaf weeds and sedges. Integration of one hand weeding (40 DAS) with pendimethalin 1000 g ha -1 (PRE) fb bispyribac sodium 25 g ha -1 (20 DAS) provided almost complete control of all type of weeds with highest grain yield (4200 kg ha -1 ) among different treatments which was at par with weed free check (4365 kg ha -1 ). The above herbicidal combinations were superior to the already recommended combination of pendimethalin fb bispyribac in terms of weed control, grain yield (3893 kg ha -1 ) and other indices. Plant height, 1000-grain weight and harvest index were not influenced significantly by different treatments. Pendimethalin fb bispyribac + pyrazosulfuron was realized to be the best treatment in terms of net returns and B-C ratio. Tank-mix application of fenoxaprop had antagonistic effect on efficacy of bispyribac against weeds. Future research efforts are needed for fine-tuning the post-emergence solutions for aerobic grasses. |
