The field experiment was carried out to find out the effect of organics on growth, seed yield, quality and storability of soybean at Water and Land Use Management Institute (WALMI) Farm, Dharwad during kharif 2006, consisted eight treatments of FYM, rockphosphate, vermicompost, green leaf manure in different proportion, RDF+FYM and RDF alone and was laid out in randomised block design with three replications. Application of RDF (40 : 80 : 25 kg NPK /ha) + FYM (5 t/ha) recorded significantly higher plant height (49.40 cm), number of branches per plant (6.07), number of leaves per plant (21.53) and leaf area index (5.08), number of pods per plant (39.67), number of seeds per pod (2.51), seed yield (22.35 q/ha), 100 seed weight (12.11 g), germination (96.76%), root length (19.63 cm), shoot length (18.75 cm), seedling dry weight (106.12 mg), seedling vigour index (3713) and protein content (38.95%) and it was on par with the application VC (100%) + RP (176 kg/ha) (47.20 cm, 5.73, 21.33, 4.92, 37.60, 2.41, 21.13 q/ha, 11.45, 96.24%, 19.60 cm, 18.73 cm, 106.07 mg, 3688 and 38.83%, respectively) compared to other treatments. The storage experiment was conducted at Seed Research Laboratory, National Seed Project, Dharwad from November 2006 to June 2007. The seeds treated with deltamethrin @ 40 ml/kg recorded higher germination (82.22%), shoot length (15.88 cm), root length (16.99 cm), seedling dry weight (94.43 mg), seedling vigour index (2703), field emergence (74.22%) and lower electrical conductivity (1.168 dSm-1) and moisture content (9.07%) followed by the seeds treated with sweet flag rhizome powder (81.44%, 15.65 cm, 16.78 cm, 94.34 mg, 2641, 73.33%, 1.198 dSm-1 and 9.10%, respectively) compared to control (73.22%, 14.10 cm, 14.73 cm, 87.20 mg, 2146, 67.44%, 1.353 dSm-1 and 9.69%, respectively) upto at the end of seven months of storage period. |
