Description A study was conducted to assess the potential of converting sorghum stover into silage, the impact of drying stover on chemical composition and dry matter intake, the effect of feeding stover silage as against dried sorghum stover on performance of crossbred dairy cows. The silage prepared from sorghum (DSV 4) fodder dough-stage (SdoS) (80th day) and sorghum stover (SstS) (105th day), with and without additives in 2x3 factorial design were used. The results showed that SstS behaved similar to SdoS, except the DM, NDF and ME (MJ/kg) were significantly higher in SdoS.
Cows in mid lactation fed ad lib of either SstS or SstD as main roughage in the diet for 4 weeks period (Including 5days metabolic trial period) in a switch over design showed that the mean total DMI (kg/d) (P
