Congenital anomalies in domestic fowl have been reported earlier and most of them were case reports (Damodaran and Tanikachalam, 1974; Grewal et al., 1976, 1977; Peckham, 1984). The present paper reports a casd of aplasia of left kidney encountered in a ten - week old Babcock layer chicken among 24,725 cases of post-mortem (PM) attended at Poultry Research and Development Centre, Namakkal during 1980-90. On post-mortem examination the left kidney and the corresponding ureter were absent and the right kidney showed compensatory hypertrophy (Fig).
