Description A field and laboratory experiments were conducted at Department of
Seed Science and Technology, UAS, Bangalore during kharif 2012 to assess the
response of fertilizer levels and spacing on seed yield, quality and storability of
Green gram cv.KKM-3”. Experimental results revealed that Fertilizer
application of 50:100:100 NPK kg/ha+Green gram rhizobium(200g ha-1)+PSBBacillus
megaterium(200 g ha-1) recorded more number of branches plant-1
(8.89), clusters plant-1(8.00), pod weight plant-1(33.00 g), seed recovery per cent
(94.78 %), processed seed yield(12.65 q ha-1), germination per cent(97.25%),
seedling vigour index I and II(3947 and 2450) superior over control. Among the
planting geometry 60x10cm recorded higher seed yield of 12.28q ha-1 as
compared to 45x10cm (11.98q ha-1) and 30x10 cm (9.84q ha-1). Interaction of
fertilizer levels and spacing through the application of 50:100:100NPK kg
ha-1+Green gram rhizobium (200g ha-1) + PSB- Bacillus megaterium (200g ha-1)
with planting geometry 60x10cm recorded more seed recovery per cent
(95.35%), 1000seed weight (48.3g), protein content(24.5%), TDH activity
(1.001), lower EC(0.737dSm-1) were obtained.
And also storage experiment was carried out to know the effect of seed
treatment chemicals and containers on storability of Green gram. The results
revealed that, seeds treated spinosad 45EC@0.4ml kg-1 seeds found better by
recording higher germination per cent(89.00%), seedling vigour index-I(3471),
lower EC(0.766 dSm-1) and higher TDH(0.851) compared to untreated control.
Among the containers seeds stored in polylined cloth bag(400guage)
maintaining significantly higher germination per cent(85.16%), seedling vigour
index-I(3129) and TDH(0.850) compared to seeds stored in cloth bag at the end
of 6th month of storage.
