Description |
A study was conducted to analyze antibiotic resistance and sensitivity patterns in periurban dog populations. The ABST findings of 32 dogs with Staphylococcal isolates from apparently healthy canines and those with Staphylococcus skin disease were analyzed. 93.75% (30/32) of isolates were sensitive to Quinolones, viz Ofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Ciprofloxacin and Enrofloxacin. Around 80% of isolates were sensitive to Cephalosporins such as Cefaclor, Cefazolin and Cephalothin. Ampicilin, Penicillin and Tetracycline displayed least sensitivity against isolates (20%) of all antibacterials and proved existence of Ampicillin resistance for Staphylococci in dogs.
