The field and laboratory experiments were carried out to study “Influence of B-9, cycocel and paclobutrazol on growth, flowering, yield and post-harvest parameters in lily cv. Jazzit”. The field experiment was conducted at Horticulture Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India during 2015. Lily is important cut flower with a significant economic importance. Different concentrations of B-9 (1000 ppm, 2000 ppm), cycocel (500 ppm, 1000 ppm) and paclobutrazol (1 mg, 2 mg) were given in lily with both single and double application respectively along with control plants for the experiment. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications. On the basis of above findings it is concluded that application of growth retardants i.e. B-9, cycocel and paclobutrazol were found beneficial in improving growth, flowering, yield and post-harvest life in lily cv. Jazzit. Application of B-9 1000 ppm (Double dose) was effective for dwarfing plant height, whereas for other growth parameters paclobutrazol 1mg (Single dose) was found effective. Application of paclobutrazol 1mg (Double dose) and single application of B-9 1000 ppm were found effective for flowering and bulb yield, respectively. Single application of Paclobutrazol 2 mg was found beneficial for bulblets production. Cycocel 1000 ppm (Single dose) was found effective for improving post-harvest life. |
