Description The Aringnar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP) is located 32 km away from Chennai. Tamilnadu. It has three types of crocodiles totaling about 250 in which muggers formed the majority - about 230. The hunch-backed condition observed in the mugger crocodiles formed the basis of this study. Hunch back was noticed in the dorsal region of 31 crocodiles between the fore and hind limbs. The kyphosis was up to half a foot high. The affected crocodiles showed difficulty in movement. They dragged their bodies along the sand bed instead of the normal high walking. Some affected crocodiles did not move and remained in the same place for hours together. Levels of serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase were estimated in normal and hunch-backed crocodiles.
