Description Physiological aspects of groundnut in response to phosphorus
under moisture stress conditions was studied. The results
revealed that application of phosphorus especially in split
increased the crop growth in terms of height, number of leaves,
LAI, CGR, LAR and LWR and decreased SLW under moisture stress
conditions. Application of phosphorus decreased praline content
and increased leaf water potentials under both stress free and
stress imposed conditions. Phosphorus application in split
increased N, P and K per cent in component parts. Supply of phosphorus
in split increased the number of mature pods m- 2 , 100 seed
weight, kernel yield, shelling percentage, reproductive efficiency,
oil content and harvest index. The beneficial effects of
phosphorus was more when it was applied in split i.e., 30 + 30 kg
-1 P2o5ha (half at the time of sowing and remaining at the time of
reproductive stage) under moisture stress conditions.
