ABSTRACT SUMMARY The project “Market Share and Market Potential of Fertilizers in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh with reference to Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO)” The study was conducted in the light of following objectives: 1. To assess the market share of fertilizers in the study area. 2. To assess the market potential of fertilizers in the study area. 3. To study the farmers preference for fertilizers in the study area. 4. To estimate the quantity of fertilizer distributed through cooperatives societies and private shop in the study area. . 5. SWOT analysis of IFFCO fertilizer CONCLUSION The study was concluded in light of the following heads • The study revealed that among of the six dealers and 40 farmer selected and was selling fertilizer products. Out of these dealers IFFCO societies dealers had the IFFCO dealership, of which IFFCO societies had the highest sale quantity of 458 MT followed by Mahavir Beej Khad Bhandar 280 MT and Gyan Sagar Fertilizer had the least of 170 MT. • The total market potential for Urea, DAP and MOP for wheat crop in district is 35770.68 MT. Jakhoara , Madawara and blocks are highly potential area. • The total quantity of fertilizer used by farmer in Lalitpur district viz. Urea, DAP and MOP for wheat crop in the district is 28977.85 MT. Farmers of Jakhoara, and Mahroani use more fertilizers. • There was a market gap of 6792.83 MT for Urea, DAP and MOP in Lalitpur district. • The farmer’s preference for purchasing fertilizer mostly affected the price, timely availability and dealers support. • 29047 MT (56.98%) fertilizer was distributed by private shops and 21934 MT (43.02%) by cooperative societies in Lalitpur district during the year 2011-12. RECOMMENDATIONS Following are some recommendations based 0n the study: The timely and adequate availability of fertilizer to farmer’s levels before onset of season should be ensured Cooperative should increase in field staff strength including field assistants. Wall painting in rural area as to be focused on the product. Paper advertisement during season. Farmers field days, demonstration should also increased. For the popularization of various brand of IFFCO The information of products should be disseminated through mass media, the television, radio, newspapers etc. Schemes such as discounts, incentive for timely payments must bfollowed to motivate the dealers to sell products of the cooperative. |
