Description |
An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, IGKV, Raipur (C.G.) during the years 2007-08 and 2008-09 employing Randomized Block Design having ten treatments replicates three times. The treatment consisted ten different levels of plant growth regulators ~~izC.,o ntrol (To), Gibberellic acid 50 pprn (TI), Gibberellic acid 100 pprn (T?),G ibberellic acid 150 pprn (T3). Naphthalene acetic acid 200 ppm (T4), Naphthalene acetic acid 300 pprn (TS), Naphthalene acetic acid 400 pprn (Tb), Ethrel 500 pprn (T,), Ethrel 1000 pprn (Ts)an d Ethrel 1500 pprn (Tg). The experiment was conducted on 10 years old trees of sapota cv. Cricket Ball with foliar spray of different concentrations of plant growth regulators applied at 50 per cent flowering and pea stage of hit development. Amongst different concentrations of plant growth regulators, naphthalene acetic acid 200 pprn followed by gibberellic acid 100 pprn and naphthalene acetic acid 400 ppm was found more to control the fruit drop and increased the fruit retention during whole investigation. far as ripening advancement characters is concerned, length of harvest period was significantly reduced by the application of ethrel 1000 PPm and 1500 PPm followed by other treatments, Ethre] treated plants comes early to harvest and length of harvests was reduced as compared to control. As regard yield, the treatment NAA 200 ppm, when applied at 50 per cent flowering and pea stage of fruit development produced significantly more number of hits as well as yield per tree as compared to control plants. Physical parameter of tiuit viz., average fruit weight, average hit diameter, pulp weight, as well as fruit volume were also increased considerably with the treatment 200 ppm NAA, whereas a reduction in number of seeds, seed weight and peel weight was observed by the application of same treatment as compared to water spray (control). The quality of hit in terms of total soluble solids, reducing, non- reducing, total sugar and ascorbic acid content was proved to be best showing a higher status with the treatments NAA 200 ppm (T4),fo llowed by GA3 100 ppm (T2) and NAA 300 ppm (Ts) while the acidity of hit decreased by the application of same treatment. |
