Description The present investigation was conducted at Department of
Agricultural microbiology, UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru during 2011-12.
Experiment was conducted under the statistical design CRD. Results of
the treatment receiving 100% NPK showed maximum plant height at 15,
30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 DAT (21.33, 50.67, 79.33, 86.67, 90.33 and
94.33cm respectively), maximum number of branches at 30, 45, 60 and
75 DAT (6, 9, 16.67 and 18.33 respectively), highest number of fruits per
plant at 45, 60 and 75 DAT (6, 7.67 and 8.67 respectively) and higher
fruit weight per plant after the harvest of the fruit (61 gm). Plant nutrient
content analysis after the harvest of crop revealed that the nitrogen
(1.42%), phosphorous (0.62%) and potassium (1.16%) was also found
maximum in the same treatment.
Total bacteria (26.00 x 10-6 cfu/g soil) and total actinomycetes
population (12.33 x 10-3 cfu/g soil) was recorded maximum in the
treatment receiving BDLM + Azotobacter chroococcum + Bacillus
megaterium. Whereas; total fungi (21.00 x 10-3 cfu/g soil) in the
treatment which received BDLM + Azotobacter chroococcum + Trihoderma
viridae. Beneficial microorganisms like Azotobacter spp. (16.67 x 10-3
cfu/g soil) and Glomus fasciculatum population (53.33 VAM spores/50gm
soil) was found maximum in the treatment receiving BDLM + Azotobacter
chroococcum + Glomus fasciculatum. Phosphate solubilising bacteria (13 x
10-3 cfu/g soil) and Trihoderma spp. population (16.33 x 10-2 cfu/g soil)
was recorded maximum in the treatment which received BDLM + Bacillus
megaterium + Glomus fasciculatum and BDLM + Trihoderma viridae,
respectively.
