The mucosal membranes are the gateway to systemic distribution for many pathogens. Stimulation of immunity in the mucosa with the purpose of halting an infection at an early stage has therefore been a sought-after strategy. Mucosal immunity in mammals is based upon IgA antibodies. In rainbow trout, IgT has been identified as the mucosal antibody (Zhang et al., 2010). Various types of vaccines that have been tested for their ability to stimulate mucosal immunity va.In the present study we demonstrate the immune response aand efficacy of biofilm oral vaccine. The biofilm vaccine, which is administered together with daily feed ration, induces a specific immune response at a local and systemic level. A hydrophila biofilm were incorporated in feed and fed to Common carp,Catla catla, Labeo rohita for 10 days. Fish blood and mucous was collected on 0.10,20 and 30 DPV to evaluate the immune response by MAb based ELISA.The antibody titre was significantly higher in all the three species in both serum and mucous giving us an idea of generation of mucosal immunity. 2D analysis of gut samples of common carp from both vaccinated and control fish revealed several proteins which were up regulated as compared to the control fish. RT-PCR analysis of these immunological important proteins showed significant difference in their upregulation as compared to control. |
