Description |
PCR based molecular authentication of Goat meat samples (fresh, frozen, cooked and processed) from indigenous non-descript local goat breed in Tamil Nadu was undertaken. PCR amplification followed by Electrophoresis revealed species specific bands with 157 bp. Cooking and further processing did not affect the efficacy of PCR amplification. Sequencing of purified PCR product was done by automated sequencing procedure using BigDye terminator V 3.1 cycle and AB1 3700 DNA analyzer. The results of sequence analysis and comparison with the sequences for mitochondrial cytochrome b gene showed 95-97% identity.
