The study was conducted in the chikkaballapur district of Karnataka to know the socio-economic status, utilization and perception of bank account holders. The study was conducted based on both primary and secondary data, the primary data was collected from 200 bank customers and secondary data was collected from different sources of information. The results indicated that the women account holders were very meagre and vast majority of the respondents were male. More than two-third of respondents were pursuing agriculture as their main occupation. The membership in political parties was the single largest institutional participation. Less than half of the respondents have not availed loan because of the lengthy procedures involved to avail. Customers availed different kinds of loans in that crop loan are the major one. Kissan credit card facility was availed by 8 per cent of the customers. Under developed villages (80 %) and developed villages (77 %) have positive perception towards banks as source of savings, banks for extending ATM and other ebanking facilities. The barrowing from the banks was not considered as below one’s dignity. More than half of the customers have indicated that banks are delaying in sanctioning of loan. Banks are become competitive and attracting the customers through tailor made services for different segments. |
