Description To meet the ever increasing foodgrain needs of the
country, for feeding the rapidly growing population, Government
of India recognised the need for preventing the huge
storage losses apart from taking steps to produce more and
more food grains. The Indian grain storage Institute and
Farmers' Training Centre are involved in improving the efficiency
of human inputs through new knowledge and improved
skills related to scientific storage technology.
The present study was under taken in order to assess
the impact of the training programme conducted by Indian
Grain Storage Institute, in terms of knowledge and the extent
of adoption of improved storage practices by the trained farm
women.
The study was carried out in five villages of Guntur
district covering a total sample of 200 trained farm women.
A pre-tested interview schedule was used for the collection
of data.
The study revealed that majority of the trained farm
women (54.S per cent), had fair level of knowledge on
scientific storage of foodgrains.
20-40 per cent of the trained farm women have adopted
most of the improved storage practices.
The results of the study indicated that the training
programme had a positive impact on the knowledge and adoption
levels of trained farm women in scientific storage practices.
