Description A total of 240 ear swabs collected aseptically from 213 dogs affected with otitis externa and presented at Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital during the years 2011-2014 were utilized for the study. The ear swabs were cultured to know the prevalence of microorganisms causing otitis and to evaluate the sensitivity pattern of antimicrobial drugs for the management of otitis in dogs. Pseudomonas spp was found to be the predominant microorganism affecting canine otitis. Highest rate of sensitivity was observed with Cefotaxime.
