Description |
The field experiment was conducted during 2011-12 on farmer’s field in Bijapur district, Northern Dry Zone of Karnataka to study the “Site Specific Nutrient Management for target yield and recovery in sugarcane”, the experiment consists of seven treatments of which four treatments are target yield. Significantly higher cane yield (211 t ha-1) was recorded in T7 (target yield of 300 t ha-1) and it was on par with T6 (204 t ha-1) i.e. a target yield of 250 t ha-1 and T5 (195 t ha-1) i.e. a target yield of 200 t ha-1 over rest of the treatments (T4, fertilizer recommendation based on soil test, RDF and farmer’s practice). The per cent increase in the cane yield among the target yield treatments was 44, 39 and 33 %, respectively in T7 (target yield of 300 t ha-1), T6 (target yield of 250 t ha-1) and T5 (target yield of 300 t ha-1) over the treatment T4 (target yield of 150 t ha-1). The quality parameters viz., Brix %, Pol %, Purity %, Recovery % and CCS % did not differ significantly with respect to different treatments. However, higher sugar yield (24.36 t ha-1) was obtained with treatment T5 (target yield of 200 t ha-1) by virtue of higher cane yield. Significantly higher nutrient uptake was recorded with the treatment T7 (target yield of 300 t ha-1) and was on par with T6 (target yield of 250 t ha-1) and T5 (target yield of 200 t ha-1). Significantly higher net returns ( 3,65,656 ha-1) was obtained in T7 (target yield of 300 t ha-1) and was on par with T6 ( 3,56,753 ha-1) (target yield of 250 t ha-1) and T5 ( 3,43,443 ha-1) (target yield of 200 t ha-1). The lower net returns was recorded with Farmers’ practice ( 1,61,380 ha-1). |
