Indian economy is largely agrarian with agriculture sector contributing 1/3rd of the total GDP. Approximately 30% of food grains in India go wasted due to Pests, Pathogens, weeds, and rodents stressing the importance of the role of Pesticides in the economy. A study has been conducted titled "A STUDY ON MARKET IDENTIFICATION AND SALES PROMOTION ACTIVITIES OF RALLIS IN KARIMNAGAR DISTRICT" MAJOR OBJECTIVES: 1 To identify the major crops grown in Karimnagar 2. To measure the performance of Rallis in the Agro Chemical segment in Karimnaga district. 3. To evaluate the competitors performance in Karimnagar market. 4. To evaluate the promotional techniques adopted by Rallis and its impact on buying behavior. For achieving above objectives the data was collected from different sources. The primary data was collected by interviewing distributors, dealers, retailers, and farmers with the help of well designed and pre-tested Questionnaire. The major market include Vemulawada, Jagitial, Karimnagar local market, Peddapally, Manthini, Gadampally, Mahadevpur, Jammikunta, Huzurabad, Mulkanoor which have been covered for collecting data. The secondary data was collected from the District Agriculture Office by contacting Agriculture Officers, Joint Director of Agriculture, and Industry Persons. Finally the data collected was analyzed by using the statistical tools such as totals, rankings and averages. The results are furnished in the tabular, diagrammatic, and graphical representations. Rallis has about 5 distributors and 6 dealers. The data was mainly collected by surveying and interviewing the mentioned dealers and distributors. The list is given below. Gadimpally Rytu depo Jagityal Market potential for Rallis products was obtained from the above markets. Finally the recommendations were made according to the findings from the market surveyed. Findings: The major crop grown in Karimnagar was Cotton, Paddy, Maize, and Chilly. The findings of the study also indicate that about 65% of dealers in Karimnagar expressed that Rallis image in the market has declined. The Rallis image amongst the farmers is positive since it forms a part of TATA group. The reasons as expressed by dealers and distributors for decline in the popularity of Rallis brand is account disputes, poor field work, and high prices. The study also indicated that the Bayer is the strong competitor followed by De-Nocil, Dupont, and Syngenta etc. Rallis stands sixth in its market share. The major promotional techniques used by Rallis are farmers meetings, jeep campaigns, and ads in television which had a positive impact on sales. |
