Description |
Studies were carried out at the experimental orchard of the Department of Horticulture, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, during the year 2010-11 to standardize evaluation twenty chrysanthemum cultivars viz. Flirt, Poornima, White Star, White Bucket, Maud Jepperies, Birbal Shahni, Charlia, Terry, Lal Pari, Shanty, Punjab Anuradha, Aparajita, Nanaku, Star Pink, Vasantika, Ragini, Tokyo, Thai Ching Queen, Red Gold, Harvest Home, in semi arid conditions. In terms of vegetative characters, cultivars Tokyo, Vasantika, Maud Jepperies and White Star registered maximum plant height, spread, number of branches and leaf area, respectively. Flower characters viz. days to flowering, number of buds, duration of flowering and days to 50 % flowering were maximum in cultivars, Vasantika, Tokyo and Harvest Home, respectively. Whereas, minimum stalk length was in Punjab Anuradha and large sized flowers produced by cultivar Star Pink. In terms of yield attributing characters, maximum number of flowers, yield per plant and yield per hectare were in cultivar Vasantika. However, maximum fresh weight of flower was in White Bucket. |
