A field experiment entitled “Studies on tillage and weed management in green gram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] under guava based agri-horti system” was conducted during kharif season of 2014-15 at agricultural research farm, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh (India). The experiment was laid out in split plot design, keeping two tillage method (Zero and conventional) in main plots and eight weed management practices viz. two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS, Pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha.(PE), Imezathypr @ 75g/ha (PoE), Quazalaphop-P @ 50g/ha (PoE), Pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha (PE) fb Imezathypr @ 75 g/ha (PoE), Pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha (PE) + Imezathypr @75g/ha.(PE), Pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha (PE) fb Quazalaphop-P @ 50g/ha (PoE) and Weedy check were kept in sub plots with three replication. The observation on growth and development of crop and weeds were recorded. Zero tillage system was effective in minimizing the weed infestation improving the crop growth, yield and net return over conventional tillage system. Among the weed management treatments hand weeding twice and application of pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha (PE) fb imezathypr @ 75 g/ha (PoE) was most effective in reducing the weed density, their dry weight, minimizing crop weed competition and maximizing crop growth, grain yield net income and B : C ratio. In view of the above conclusion, it may be recommended that application of two hand weeding at (20 and 40 DAS) and pendimethalin @ 1000 g/ha (PE) fb imezathypr @ 75 g/ha (PoE) with zero tillage can be used for minimizing weed growth and maximizing crop growth yield and net return in mungbean under guava based agri-horti system in vindhyan region. |
