Description |
The present investigation was carried out during Rabi season in 2009-10. The assessment of yield contributing characters and powdery mildew reactions was observed on different plant parts and the fungus (Erysiphe pisi DC.) have no effect on various plant characters of different pea varieties. It is due to difference in genetic constitution of the variety. Early sowing i.e. 15th November and variety EC-654424 was found significantly superior over late sowing i.e. 30th Nov., 15th Dec. and other varieties under study for disease severity. Among the fieldpea germplasm lines tested, majority of entries apparently escaped powdery mildew infection under field and glasshouse condition thus, variety T-7 under glasshouse condition and Rachana under field condition proves to be resistant line under moderate disease pressure against powdery mildew of fieldpea. Apparent infection rate of disease development was higher between 50% flowering and pod initiation stage. Powdery mildew severity showed positive and significant correlation with temperature and sunshine hours while, it showed negative and non significant correlation with minimum temperature and relative humidity. Chemicals Tridemorph, Triadimefon and Carbendazim at 0.1%, 0.25 % and 0.1% proves to be most effective fungicides in reducing the severity of disease and conidial germination in vivo and in vitro study. On the basis of cost benefit ratio, Elemental sulphur was found best (1: 5.32) followed by Neem oil and Carbendazim. |
