Description |
A six year old crossbred cow weighing 275 kg was presented with the history of trauma by pointed metallic rod (3 hrs before) followed by protrusion of viscera through the ventral abdomen. Clinical examination revealed a metallic rod which was partially inside the abdomen and the eviscerated mass was abomasum. The animal was stabilized by fluid followed by immediate surgical intervention. Abomasum was pushed into the abdominal cavity and abdominal muscles and skin were apposed using No.2 PGA in overlapping pattern and silk in vertical mattress pattern respectively. Post-operative cares were carried out and the animal had an unevenful recovery.
