Description Two field experiments were conducted in mustard during rabi season at Main
Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad. First experiment was conducted with three spacings
viz., S1 (30x15), S2 (45x15) and S3 (60x15) and fertilizer levels viz., F1 (60:30), F2 (80:40)
and F3 (100:50 kg NP/ha). Significantly higher number of siliquae per plant, siliquae weight,
seed yield per plant, seed oil content, 1000 seed weight, germination (95.67%) and field
emergence (95.50%) were noticed in S2 followed by S1 spacing. Whereas, plant height and
seed yield per ha (689.2 kg/ha) were highest in S1 as against S3 spacing. Similar trend was
seen for all the growth, seed yield and quality parameters in F3 which recorded significantly
highest seed yield per ha, germination and vigour index was recorded in F3 as against F1.
Among the interaction effects, seed yield per ha was highest in S1F3 combination. Whereas,
1000 seed weight, germination and seedling vigour index (3263) were highest in S2F3 level.
Second experiment was conducted with three fungicides viz., F1 , F2 and F3 and four
time of fungicidal applications viz., T1, T2, T3 and T4. Among the fungicides, bavistin (2 g l-l)
recorded highest number of siliquae per plant, seed yield per ha (557.70 kg/ha), oil content,
germination (94.13%) and seedling vigour index (2476) except EC and number of infected
siliquae per plant. It was followed by sulphur (1g/l) and ridomil Mz (2 ml/l). Same results
were also obtained with application of fungicides at 40 and 60 DAS which recorded
significantly highest seed yield per ha (528.17 kg), germination (94.04%) and vigour index
(2550). It was followed by 40 and 60 DAS. Similar increased seed quality and quality were
seen in interaction of bavistin (2 g l-1) applied at 40 and 60 DAS (F1xT3) as against control
(no spray).
