Sometimes the experimenters have to study the effect of two or more factors simultaneously and the heterogeneity in the experimental material is in two directions then the appropriate design is factorial row-column design. In a single row-column design, some of the treatment effects that are confounded with rows and columns cannot be estimated. If the experimenter is interested for the estimation of all the treatment effects, the suitable designs are block designs with nested rows and columns. The designs that are balanced symmetric factorials nested in blocks are called block designs with nested row-column balanced symmetric factorial experiments. These designs have been constructed by using three methods viz. (i) general confounding method, (ii) use of lattice square designs, and (iii) use of extended group divisible (EGD) designs. The efficiency factor of confounded effects has also been worked out. |
