Description M. Sc. (Ag.)
A field experiment entitled “Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) under guava based agri-horti system in rainfed condition” was conducted during kharif season of 2014-15 at agricultural research farm, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh (India). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design, keeping ten integrated nutrient management practices viz. Control, 100% RDF, 75% RDF, 50% RDF, 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter, 50% RDF + 50% RDF through FYM, 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium and 75% RDF + Azosprillium with three replication. The observation on growth and development of crop were recorded and results are summarized.
Among integrated nutrient management, application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter recorded higher value of growth attributes viz. plant height, fresh weight, number of green leaves plant-1 and dry matter production and which was statistically at par with 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium And this treatment significantly over to 100% RDF , 75%RDF, 50% RDF, 50% RDF + 50% RDF through FYM, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azosprillium and control. Maximum yield attributes such as effective tillers, length of panicle, no of grains ear-1, girth of ear, grain weight ear-1and test weight was recorded with application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter and these treatment significantly superior to 100% RDF , 75%RDF, 50% RDF, 50% RDF + 50% RDF through FYM, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azosprillium and control treatment. Application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter recorded more yield attributes being statistically at par with 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium. Integrated nutrient management treatments improve the value of grain yield, straw yield and harvest index and recorded significantly higher values with the application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter followed by 100% RDF , 75%RDF, 50% RDF, 50% RDF +
50% RDF through FYM, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azosprillium, control and at par with 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium treatment. Highest NPK uptake by grain and stover as well total under application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter and this treatment were found significantly over to 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium, 100% RDF , 75% RDF, 50% RDF, 50% RDF + 50% RDF through FYM, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azosprillium and control. Protein content and yield were recorded maximum with application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter. The application of 75% RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter slightly improved the available N, P and K status of soil after harvest of crop as compared to 100% RDF + Azotobacter + Azosprillium, 100% RDF , 75% RDF, 50% RDF, 50% RDF + 50% RDF through FYM, 75% RDF + Azotobacter, 100% RDF + Azosprillium, 75% RDF + Azosprillium and control treatment. Maximum gross return, net returns and B: C ratio was obtained with % RDF + 25% RDF through FYM + Azotobacter.
