Description |
A field experiment was conducted in the Agronomy research farm of the College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar in the Kharif season of 2013-14 to study the “Management options in modified system of rice intensification (SRI) during Kharif season”. The soil was sandy loam in texture and near neutral in reaction. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design. Four management options in modification of planting technique (age of seedling, number of seedlings and spacing), water management, weed management and nutrient management were assigned to sixteen treatments in different combination. The crop was sown on 17th July for conventional system and 29th July for modified system which were transplanted on 8th August 2013. The fertilizer application, weed management and water management were conducted as per the treatment specification. The investigation revealed that when only one factor was modified T5 (modified nutrient management) recorded maximum grain yield (4.03 t ha-1), when two factors were modified T6 (modified planting and water management) recorded maximum grain yield (4.25 t ha-1) and when three factors were modified T13 (modified planting, water management and nutrient management) recorded maximum grain yield (4.33 t ha-1). Among all the treatments T6 (modified planting and water management) recorded maximum grain yield (4.25 t ha-1) and T3 (modified water management) recorded maximum straw yield (6.90 t ha-1) which was 15.30% and 36.67% higher than T1 (conventional system) and 21.65%, 29.57% higher than T16 (SRI) respectively where as maximum harvest index (0.49) was recorded in T8 (modified planting and nutrient management). Highest Nitrogen uptake (19.25 kg ha-1) and Phosphorus uptake (73.39 kg ha-1) was noticed in T10 (modified water management and nutrient management) and T6 (modified planting and water management) respectively where as highest Potassium uptake (110.83 kg ha-1) and highest total NPK uptake (196.62 kg ha-1) was noticed in T3 (modified water management). The treatment T5 (modified nutrient management) recorded maximum cost of production (Rs. 34081) and T13 (modified planting, water management and nutrient management) recorded maximum gross return (Rs. 56723) where as maximum net return (Rs. 29804) and highest B: C (2.15) were noticed in T6 (modified planting and water management). |
