Description The word NGO is defined as “voluntary organization consisting of group of persons who
organize themselves on the basis of voluntary membership without external and state control,
having definite aims, objectives, programmes, constitution and an administrative structure which
is propelled by democratic principles and team spirit”. Government in the recent time is less able
to continue to provide all the services as have been provided earlier. Under such situations, the
non-government organizations are the favorite institution which can play complementary and
supplementary in the process of tribal development. It was planned to focus the study on impact
of NGOs in bringing socio-economic of tribal farmers through in “koraput” district. Accordingly
specific objectives were formulated to provide the study. In the light of the objectives, the scope
of study was oriented and due techniques of investigation were followed and tools were
selected for use along with pattern of statistical analysis. Out of 30 districts of the state, district
koraput was selected for the study. Eighty NGO beneficiaries and 2O NGO employees were
covered under the study. The interview schedule was developed on the basis of objectives set
for the study. The interview schedule consisted of objectives such as listing of NGOs, Socioeconomic
profile, Extent of involvement, Constraints faced by the NGOs and some important
case studies. The respondents were personally interviewed and data was analyzed to interpret
the findings. The result showed increased level of education, Social participation, Cosmopoliteness,
Exposure to extension agencies. Significant impact is observed on increase in
annual income. The beneficiaries have adopted technologies like vermin-composting,
Mushroom Cultivation, SRI method and organic vegetable cultivation. Various constraints
perceived by the members were administrative followed by personal, social and situational and
technological. The success story of four important traits have been collected which have very
positive impact for its extra polation in the area.
