Description M. Sc. (Ag.)
A field experiment was conducted to study the “Effect of various mycorrhizal products on growth, yield and quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cv. Arka Vikas”, during Rabi season 2015-16 at Vegetable Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi, to evaluate the effect of various mycorrhizal products at different concentrations on growth, yield and quality parameters of tomato. The results obtained from investigation are as follows. The field experiment consisted of 13 treatments involving different mycorrhizal products such as NZBBA9048, NZBBA9049, NZBBA9050 @ 250 g/ha, 500 g/ha and 750 g/ha each respectively. The standard product used was Bolt SP at concentrations of 100 g/ha, 200 g/ha and 300 g/ha. From present investigation it can be concluded that the best product for increasing all the growth, yield and quality parameters was NZBBA9049 and the optimum concentration for its application is 500 g/ha. In most of the cases application of NZBBA9048 at the concentration of 500 g/ha was also at par with The NZBBA9049. At Much higher concentration both the mycorrhizal products imposed adverse effect on all the growth, yield and quality parameters. Considering the above conclusion the following future line of work can be taken in to consideration for increasing yield and quality of tomato. Mycorrhiza can use as a supplement for increasing yield and quality along with commonly used fertilizers.
The optimum concentration of mycorrhiza can be used for increasing production of tomato and other solanaceous vegetables. The study of effect of mycorrhiza may be done in different seasons and different environmental conditions.
