Description |
In the current study, 7 different types of solid cancers were studied i.e, lung, breast, colorectal, Prostate, Pancreatic, Bladder, Stomach. From literature, 23 miRNA targeting 63 genes were reported for these 7 tumor types. These genes have various functions in physiology such as Angiogenesis, Apoptosis, Cell cycle, Cell proliferation, and some other genes have other functions. The mRNA and miRNA were profiled in terms of Minimum free energy score, number of miRNA and mRNA interaction, role in a cancer type, etc. From the study it was identified that PTEN gene (mRNA) and miR-21 (miRNA) have a commonality in all 7 types of cancers studied. Of these, it has very high significance in Pancreatic cancer, Colorectal cancer, Stomach cancer and in the rest of the 5 cancers such as, Bladder cancer, Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Prostate Cancer, Pancreatic cancer it is of low significance. Therefore, targeting PTEN by silencing with miR-21 would be a rational approach to suppress the cancerous condition. The structural interaction between miRNA-mRNA duplex and Ago protein has been studied. The interacting residue found as conserved in all docking operation between miRNA-mRNA duplex and Ago protein. |
