Description field experiment was conducted at AICRP for Dryland Agriculture, UAS, GKVK, Bangalore during kharif 2013. The experiment was laid out in f-RCBD with twenty treatments which were replicated twice. The main factors were sources of organic matter, rotation system and nutrient sources. The results revealed that incorporation of 10 tonnes FYM recorded significantly higher grain yield, straw yield and B:C (1761 kg ha-1, 2672 kg ha-1 and 2.18, respectively) than maize residue @ 5 tonnes ha-1(1365 kg ha-1, 2218 kg ha-1 and 1.52, respectively). Legume rotation with finger millet has shown significantly higher grain yield, straw yield and B:C of 1783 kg ha-1, 2900 kg ha-1 and 2.11, respectively over mono cropping system (1343 kg ha-1, 1900 kg ha-1 and 1.59). Application of 10t ha-1 FYM+100 % recommended dose of fertilizer has significantly increased the grain yield, straw yield and B:C from 277 kg ha-1, 256 kg ha-1 and 0.48 (control) to 2741 kg ha-1, 4598 kg ha-1 and 2.75, respectively. Significantly higher NPK uptake was recorded with FYM @ 10 tonnes (34.56, 16.09 and 25.88 kg NPK ha-1, respectively), legume rotation system (36.19, 14.84 and 29.87 kg NPK ha-1, respectively) and 10t ha-1 FYM+100 % recommended dose of fertilizer (63.74, 24.84 and 49.52 kg NPK ha-1, respectively). Legume rotation with FYM 10 tonnes ha-1 and 100 % recommended dose of fertilizer has shown significantly higher dehydrogenase activity (611.46 ?g TPF g-1 24 hr-1) than mono cropped finger millet with no fertilizer (101.43 ?g TPF g-1 24 hr-1).
