A research study titled “A Study on the Managerial Role of Farm Women in Khordha District of Odisha.” was conducted to identify the managerial ability of farm women with respect to productive , protective and community management roles. A total of 154 farm women from 6 villages of Khurdha district were selected through purposive and random sampling techniques. The major findings of the research study were highlighted in the following lines. It can be interpreted that the sample farm women were managing their kitchen managerial role to a moderate extent. But, the involvement in purchasing of food & non-food items should be increased so that they could involve themselves in the marketing of food & non-food items for their families. The farm women managed this function of crop management satisfactorily as it will guide the labor force to work in right direction to achieve the desired objective. Lack of formal training in livestock management was bottle neck in proper livestock management. The managerial ability sample farm women in non-farm activities were poor. This may be due to lack of time and lack of required skill for pot making and hand weaving etc. Training facilities on non-farm activities should be provided to the farm women who will generate an additional income and upgrade their living standard.The farm womens’ social participation was to a moderate extent also their membership in any organization was not much encouraging. Only 36% of the sample farm women had membership in one organization, 28% then in two organization and 19% them in three organization.Only 17% of the sample farm women visit organizations such as block office. KVKs, SAUs on a regular basis 56% of them visit these organizations on an occasional basis and 27% of them never visit any organization. A gap percentage of 36.5% is seen in this case.A total of 62% of the sample farm women fully agreed about lack of time and 56% of them in lack of awareness. A maximum gap % of 34% was seen in lack of scientific orientation and minimum of 15.28% was seen in lack of time and 23.8% in lack of education.It was observed that 60% of the sample farm women completely agreed upon lack of adequate training facilities. Also 60% of them completely agreed upon lack of support from financial organization. A maximum 40.4% gap percentage was seen in case of lack of linkage with marketing agencies.
