Description The effect of diflubenzuron, Bactospeine,
Repelin and three conventional insecticides belonging
to three different groups, individually and the former
two in combination with the other chemicals were studied
under field conditions against jassid , Amrasca
biguttula biguttula I.; whitefly, . Bemisia tabaci G. ;
spotted leaf beetle, Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata
F.; shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis G.; and
yield during kharif 1989-90. The data with regard to
the pest population/incidence were recorded one day
prior to spraying and at one, five, ten and fourteen
days after treatment •
. The individual sprays of conventional insecticides
proved more effective against jassids, whiteflies
and spotted leaf ·beetles at one day after spraying.
The combination treatments of conventionals with diflubenzuron proved highly effective from five days . after
spraying and the efficacy continued upto fourteen days
after spraying. Bactospeine and its combinations with
conventional chemicals proved effective only against
the ·spotteq leaf beetles at five and ten days after
spraying. Bactospeine and Repelin were· found ineffective
against the sucking pests whereas Repelin did not
show promise even -against spotted leaf beetle and fruit .
borer. The efficacy of the conventional. insecticides
decreased gradually · except for f enpropathrin which
showed prolonged efficacy.
Very good control of the brinjal fruit borer was
obtained with diflubenzuron + fenpropathrin, Bactospeine
+ fenpropathrin and fenpropathrin. Maximum
yields were recorded in the treatments with diflubenzuron
+ fenpropathrin (215 Q/ha) and Bactospeine + fenpropathrin
(209.50 Q/ha).
